Introduction
3BIO publishes articles discussing advances in science, technology and management within the scope of basic and applied biological science. Emphasis is placed on a wide spectrum of topics, from genetic or molecular biological positions to those covering biochemical, chemical or bioprocess engineering aspects as well as all aspects of management related to strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, information technology, and organizations as well as all functional areas of business, such as finance, marketing, and operations, provided that in each case the material is directly relevant to biological systems.
Type of paper
3BIO: Journal of Biological Sciences, Technology and Management publishes high quality research work in the following forms: Original (Research) Article and Review Article. Research articles present original research consisting 2,500–5,000 words (excluding tables, figures, and references) and address a clearly stated specific hypothesis or question with novel approaches and new insights. Review articles are a comprehensive review of a specific topic based on current literature, minimum 2,500 words.
Submission checklist
3BIO: Journal of Biological Sciences, Technology and Management is an international, peer-reviewed and open access scientific journal that provides a high-visibility forum to the scientific community for the publication of top-tier original research according to the scope of the journal.
Manuscript should be submitted through our online submission system to ensure rapid review and allows authors to track the progress of their papers. A user ID and password for the site can be obtained on first use. Manuscript and cover letter should be uploaded as Microsoft Word documents. Figures should be embedded at the end of the manuscript or separately as JPEG, GIF, TIFF or EPS files.
Note: Papers will not be considered for review and will be returned to authors if the completed cover letter is not sent to the Editorial Assistant.
First time users must be registered first before submitting a new manuscript. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted. The submitting author takes responsibility for the paper during submission and peer review. If for some technical reason submission through the online submission system is not possible, the author may contact the editorial office for help via e-mail (support3BIO@itb.ac.id).
Plagiarism and AI Screening
Every submitted manuscript will undergo plagiarism checking and AI-generated content detection. This is to ensure that every manuscript aligns with the ethics of academic writing. We use three conditions for plagiarism:
Similarity score =< 25% means that the manuscript can proceed to the peer-review process
Similarity score > 25%, but < 80% means that the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for revision
Similarity >= 80% means that the manuscript will be rejected.
We also use the same application to detect AI-generated content. Although there are still the possibilities of false positive in AI detection, we use the rule that if AI-generated content is detected above 50%, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for revision.
File Size and Format
File Sizes
Please avoid submitting unnecessarily large files. All images should be 300 dpi of resolution at their final size. Check the resolution of your image by enlarging it to 150%. If the image appears blurry, this means that the resolution is too low. The following formats are accepted: JPEG (.jpg), and PNG (.png). Do not scan pages of text and printed Figures unless no original digital document exists.
Manuscript file format
Articles should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.DOC). We cannot accept Acrobat .PDF or any other text files. Please refer to our manuscript format available here.
Readability
Papers must be written in academic English and communicate an unambiguous message. A paper may be returned to the corresponding author due to inadequate English. We recommend that authors consult with professional translators and academic proofreaders before submitting their manuscript to our journal.
As an option, we partner with Sintesa.id, a professional academic support system that helps in making academic translations [Indonesia to English], proofreading manuscripts, and other related services.
