Two-Dimensional Analysis of Lower Extremities to Predict Best Initial Condition on Marching Movement

Himpunan Mahasiswa Mesin ITB has a specific type of marching that follows a march song’s rhythm called “derap”. In practice, derap was a hard move to maintain and unify in a group. This difficulty was observed by noting the differences that occur between the subjects' initial and middle march motion conditions. The most noticeable difference was the height of the group. This study intends to observe and find how the differences vary in this motion. The differences that occur corresponded to the relative knee and ankle angle. This study utilized five active markers to reconstruct the lower…

Nanucellulose from Tofu Production Waste for Wastewater Treatment

Solid waste from tofu production, also known as okara, has numerous applications and can produce high-value-added products. However, the utilization of okara in Indonesia is not yet significant. This written work proposes okara as a source of nanocellulose to produce wastewater adsorbents in freshwater by fabricating it as aerogels and hydrogels. Wastewater is highly hazardous to the environment and living organisms as it can contain saturated salts, heavy metals, organic compounds, oil emulsions, dyes, and even microbes as pollutants that can lead to various diseases or death. Therefore,…

Multi-Objective Finned-Tube Heat Exchanger Optimization Using a Genetic Algorithm

Heat exchangers are a significant component in many industries, particularly in energy conversion systems. The design of heat exchangers itself is a complex process because it involves experience-based decisions, numerous variables and parameters, and some of them are competing with each other. Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are one of the first evolutionary algorithms which remains one of the most extensively used non-linear optimization methods today. This study explores the implementation of Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) for thermal design and optimization of a finned-tube…

Analisis Statik Bus Konversi Listrik Berbasis Ladder Frame Chassis

Drag Minimization of Low Subsonic Airfoil with Constrained Genetic Algorithm

Drag minimization of low subsonic airfoil was conducted with constrained genetic algorithm (CGA). To cope with the constraints, each of these two different types of constraint handling techniques (CHTs), namely Superiority of Feasible Individual (SoF) and Generalized Multiple Constraint Ranking (G-MCR) were employed to the CGA and compared. From three independent runs for each CHT, it was obtained that G-MCR performed significantly better than SoF, indicating that G-MCR, a novel type of CHT, provides better exploration of the design space to obtain better solution. The obtained best airfoil…

PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM AILERON PESAWAT TERBANG BERBASIS ELEKTROMEKANIK

Analysis on the Influence of Duct Casing Geometry on the Performance of a Ducted Fan

This paper aims to evaluate the influence of an electric ducted fan’s (EDF) geometry on its performance through parameter correlation analysis. Sample data was first built by generating new EDF models with varying duct casing geometries through optimal space-filling (OSF) sampling method. Afterwards, each model was numerically solved with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to obtain each model’s thrust, required power, and efficiency. It is found that the casing’s inlet lip diameter displays the greatest influence on the EDF’s total thrust, as the inlet diameter determines the…

Enhanced Ionic Conductivity of Layered-MnO2 accompanied Morphology Evolution for Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery

Enhancing ionic conductivity is crucial for improving the performance of cathode materials in zinc-ion battery applications. In this study, nanoscale manipulation with nickel intercalation into the layered-MnO2 cathode structure was achieved through a hydrothermal reaction at 160°C for 10 hours. The results of Ni-layered-MnO2 synthesis showed a distinctive peak of layered-MnO2 cathode, as indicated by XRD results, and increased conductivity; its ionic conductivity was analyzed through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), enabling rapid diffusion of Zn2+ ions and electron transfer.…

KAJI NUMERIK GROUND PAD SHOE KENDARAAN TEMPUR DENGAN MODEL MATERIAL HYPERELASTIC

One of the important components on a combat vehicle is the ground pad shoe (GPS) or track pad. GPS that has been developed at this time mostly uses rubber material. Rubber raw materials themselves are found in Indonesia in large amount. Indonesia left 3 million tonnes of natural rubber unprocessed in 2018. On the other hand, natural rubber research is quite expensive and takes a long time to become a product. To make rubber products is needed special molds and tests. To solve the high costs and long time involved in rubber research, it is necessary to carry out numerical research. In this…
